Don't push someone onto an anonymity app — one built around untraceable, encrypted or disappearing messages — at any point. This includes deliberately misspelling its name, hiding a handle inside an image, and pointing people to your bio or profile note.
Don't ask for a phone number, or push someone onto a private messaging app, before you actually know each other. Once you've been talking for a while, swapping numbers and handles is just what people do.
Sharing your handle for a mainstream social app — the kind people use openly and post to publicly — is fine. So are public servers and fandom invites.
Almost every scam on EQUALS starts with someone trying to move you somewhere we can't protect you. If a new contact is in a hurry to leave the app, that's worth paying attention to.
